USING THE FOUR DIRECTIONS
When preparing cacao we use the four elements : water, fire, earth, wind.
“MILK is not part of the 4 elements”
We ask cacao how it would like to be prepared. We do not just create a cup based on our “mood” or “likes”.
REMEMBER THIS IS MEDICINE.
We don’t have or teach “recipes we have relationship”
WATER
Approach your fire internally as you light the flame to heat your water. Wether gas stove, fire, or electric kettle fire is present.
This cacao is closely connected to Tutu Pele and their element is primoridal fire. Take a moment to give thanks to how they teach us how to create from the unknown.
Meditation serve Heat approx. 250ml of water (1 cup) in a pot
This is a large serve typically for ceremony only 2 oz is consumed
FIRE
Gather your water and give thanks : indoor tap, rainwater, snow cap water, moon water.
Make sure it is safe to consume and give back to water with a song of gratitude and send this blessing to the 26% of the world who do not have access to safe clean drinking water.
Water is LIFE.
Think of ways you can give back and gift to your local stream, lake or river.
EARTH
CHOOSE YOUR CACAO:
Discs: 4-6 discs
Mini Pack - 1/4- 1/2 pack
Bar : 10-14 grams - 1 Tbls
Approach cacao as the tree of life asking it to help root and ground you into your body and life.
WIND
Add cacao to the hot water with gratitude and prayer, calling on the four directions.
Whisk and sing to your cacao using a molinillo. Froth till rainbow bubbles appear.
Gift some of your prepared cacao back to earth as part of your song/prayer.
